PM Modi Receives Uzbekistan’s Oliy Darajali Dostlik Order

Prime Minister Narendra Modi was conferred with the Order of Oliy Darajali Do'stlik, Uzbekistan's highest state honour, by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev at the Kuksaroy Presidential Palace in Tashkent on August 30, 2026. The award came at the conclusion of bilateral talks between the two nations, days before PM Modi travelled onward to Kyrgyzstan for the SCO Summit.

PM Modi Received Uzbekistan’s highest state honour

The Order of Oliy Darajali Do'stlik holds the status of Uzbekistan's topmost state decoration, commonly referred to as the Order of Friendship in English usage. Such state honours are formally granted by governments to individuals recognised for distinguished service or exceptional contributions toward strengthening bilateral relations, in this case, marking PM Modi's role in deepening India-Uzbekistan ties over the years.

Narendra Modi Makes State Visit to Uzbekistan

1. During his two-day stay in Uzbekistan, PM Modi held detailed talks with President Mirziyoyev at the Presidential Palace, where the two leaders reviewed the wider relationship between the countries. 
2. Their discussions touched on trade and investment ties, defence cooperation, digital connectivity, energy partnerships, education exchanges, and the long-standing cultural links between the two nations. 
3. Both sides also spoke about aligning their long-term development goals, India's Viksit Bharat 2047 vision and Uzbekistan's own 2030 development roadmap. 
4. As part of the visit, PM Modi also paid tribute at the Shastri Memorial in Tashkent and visited the Mahatma Gandhi Centre located at the Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies, reflecting the historical bond between the two countries.

PM Modi on Two-Nation Tour, to Attend SCO Summit

1. The Uzbekistan visit forms the first leg of PM Modi's two-nation tour.
2. From there, he travelled to Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, to take part in the 26th Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit, held on August 31 and September 1, 2026. 
3. At the summit, PM Modi is set to address member nations and highlight India's key priorities, security, connectivity, and opportunity, as central themes for regional cooperation. 
4. Alongside the main summit proceedings, he is also expected to hold a series of bilateral meetings with other SCO leaders on the sidelines. 
5. His itinerary further includes attending the opening ceremony of the 6th World Nomad Games, an event celebrating the cultural traditions of Central Asia. 
6. Together, the visit to Uzbekistan and participation in the SCO Summit underline India's continued focus on strengthening ties across the Central Asian region.
