Tri-Service Exercise Prachand Prahar Concludes in Arunachal Pradesh

The tri-service integrated multi-domain military exercise Prachand Prahar concluded on 27 March 2025. The joint tri-service exercise involving the Indian Army, Indian Navy, and the Indian Air Force was held from 25-27 in the Himalayas along the Northern Border with China in Arunachal Pradesh.

The tri-service Prachand Prahar exercise was in continuation of the command-level tri-service theatre exercise ‘Poorvi Prahar’ conducted along the India-China border from 10-18 November 2024.

The exercise tested the Indian Armed Forces' capability to jointly fight a war in the high-altitude Himalayan area.

The Prachand Prahar exercise was witnessed by Lieutenant General Ram Chander Tiwari, general officer commanding in chief, Eastern Army Command, Air Marshal Surat Singh, air officer commanding in chief, Eastern Air Command, and the Indian Navy’s Commodore Ajay Yadav.

Host and Participants of the Prachand Prahar Exercise 

The host of the Prachand Parhar exercise was the Kolkata-based Eastern Command of the Indian Army.

The participants of the exercise were the Eastern Command of the Indian Army,  Shillong, Meghalaya, based Eastern Air Command of the Indian Air Force, and the units of the Indian Navy participated in the Prachand Prahar Exercise. 

Nature of the Prachand Prahar exercise 

The Prachand Prahar tested the capability of the Indian Armed Forces to jointly respond and carry out an effective counter-strike against the enemy in a mountainous battle scenario.

The whole exercise was conducted in an electronically contested environment that simulated modern battlefield conditions.

The three services deployed their surveillance and space based assets during the exercise. The Indian Air Force deployed its long-range surveillance aircraft, the Indian Navy deployed its maritime domain awareness aircraft,  helicopters, and the Special Force of the Indian Army deployed its surveillance assets.

After the identification of the hostile targets, the three services coordinated their response to destroy the targets. They used the deployed  fighter aircraft, long-range rocket systems, medium artillery, swarm drones, kamikaze drones, and armed helicopters to destroy the target.
