Prime Minister Narendra Modi commissioned three indigenously built Indian Navy warships in Kolkata on June 21, 2026. The event took place at Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port. Why is this Indian naval tri-commissioning a milestone?

This event is important because it shows India's growing strength in building its own warships. PM Modi said India has started a new vision for the shipbuilding sector. 

1. Aatmanirbhar Bharat (Self-Reliant India) - A Big Step Forward - All three ships were fully designed and made in India. More than 200 small and medium-sized Indian businesses helped build them, and over 75% of the parts and materials used were made in India. 
2. Three Ships at Once: A Rare Achievement for the Indian Navy - It is very rare to introduce three big, complex warships at the same time. This shows that India is building naval ships faster than ever before. A similar event, in which three ships were inducted together, had occurred just 17 months earlier.
3. Each ship has different capabilities - INS Dunagiri is a stealth warship built for combat. INS Sanshodhak is used for mapping the ocean and keeping watch over sea areas. INS Agray is specially designed to find and fight underwater threats like submarines.
