Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports Announces Tenzing Norgay National Adventure Awards 2024

The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports announced four recipients for the Tenzing Norgay National Adventure Awards 2024 on September 2, 2026, honouring individuals who have shown exceptional courage and skill in adventure sports. The awards aim to encourage qualities like endurance, teamwork, risk-taking and quick decision-making among young Indians, while promoting wider participation in adventure activities across the country.

President of India to Confer the TNNAA Awards Along with National Sports Awards 2025

The selected awardees will receive their honours from the President of India at Rashtrapati Bhavan, in a ceremony held together with the National Sports Awards 2025. While the government has confirmed the pairing of both award functions, the exact date of the ceremony is yet to be announced. The winners were finalised based on recommendations from the National Selection Committee, which reviewed all nominations before shortlisting the final names.

The TNNAA 2024 recognises achievements across four distinct fields of adventure:

1. Land Adventure
2. Water Adventure
3. Air Adventure
4. Lifetime Achievement

Tenzing Norgay National Adventure Awards 2024: Winners

1. Ms. Baljeet Kaur – Land Adventure
2. Shri Skalzang Rigzin – Land Adventure
3. Shri Rimo Saha – Water Adventure
4. Shri Shiv Prasad Chamoli – Lifetime Achievement

Interestingly, no nomination was approved this year under the Air Adventure category, while Land Adventure saw two awardees recognised for their achievements.

Tenzing Norgay National Adventure Awards 2024: Prize Details

Every awardee under TNNAA 2024 will receive a statuette, an official certificate, and a cash prize of Rs 15 lakh. Through these awards, the government aims to reinforce its commitment to building a culture of resilience, discipline, and adventurous spirit among the country's youth, while giving greater visibility to achievements in this often-overlooked sporting field.
