India and the U.S. to hold fifth annual 2+2 meeting in New Delhi in November 2023

India and the United States have agreed to hold their annual 2+2 Dialogue in New Delhi . The fifth annual 2+2 Dialogue will most probably be held in November 2023.In the 2+2 meeting, the foreign and defence ministers of both countries participate in the meeting.
The decision to hold the annual 2+2 Dialogue was decided during the meeting between the Indian Ministry for External Affairs S. Jaishankar and the American Secretary of State (American Foreign Minister) Anthony Blinken in a meeting in Washington D.C. United States of America. Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar was on a 9-day visit to the States (U.S.) from 22-30 September 2023.
The first 2+2 meeting between India and the United States of America was held on September 6, 2018, in New Delhi. In the first 2+2 meeting, the Indian side was represented by the foreign minister, late Sushma Swaraj and the defence minister, Nirmala Sitharaman. The U.S. side was led by Secretary of State Michael Pompeo and Secretary of Defense James N. Mattis.
Donald Trump was the President of the United States of America, and Narendra Modi was the Prime Minister of India at that time.
The second 2+2 meeting was held in Washington, D.C. in 2019. India was represented by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar. The U.S. side was led by Secretary of Defense Mark Esper and Secretary of State Michael Pompeo.
The third 2+2 meeting was held in New Delhi in 2020. India was represented by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar. The U.S. side was led by Secretary of Defence Mark Esper and Secretary of State Michael Pompeo.
The fourth edition of the 2+2 meeting was held in Washington, D.C. in 2022. India was represented by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar. The U.S. side was led by Secretary of State Tony Blinken and Secretary of Defence Lloyd Austin.
In order to strengthen bilateral relations, countries conduct 2+2 meetings where a fruitful conversation between two countries is held to resolve issues on which they disagree.It is also an opportunity to strengthen the bilateral relations.
