The Indian Army has successfully concluded its annual Joint Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) exercise, Sanyukt Vimochan 2024, with friendly foreign countries.
The two-day exercise, held on 18 and 19 November 2024, was focussed on Gujarat and was held at Ahmedabad and the Chowpatty beach of Porbandar.
This was the second military exercise the Indian Army has conducted this month. It successfully conducted the tri-service military exercise ‘Poorvi Prahar’ along the India-China border from 10 to 18 November 2024.
The Indian Army’s Southern Command’s Konark Corps organised the 2024 Sanyukt Vimochan exercise.
The Indian Army, Indian Navy, Indian Air Force, Indian Coast Guard, Border Security Force, Central Reserve Police Force, National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), Gujarat’s State Disaster Response Force, Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), National Remote Sensing Center(IMD), Indian National Center for Ocean Information Services (INCOIS), and the National Institute of Disaster Management (NIDM) attended the multilateral exercise.
Nine friendly foreign countries -the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Saudi Arabia, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Maldives, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand and Vietnam attended the 2024 Sanyukt Vimochan exercise.
The 2024 Sanyukt Vimochan Exercise theme was “Cyclone in the Coastal Region of Gujarat”.
The Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), in collaboration with the Gujarat Government, organised an Industry Equipment Display on 19 November 2024 at Chowpatty Beach, Porbandar, Gujarat, during the 2024 Sanyukt Vimochan exercise.
The industrial display showcased how Indian industries indigenously built defence and HADR equipment and capabilities for visiting countries as potential export markets.
Indian Army’s headquarters is in New Delhi and has six operational commands and one training command.
