Union Minister of Education and Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Dharmendra Pradhan launched the EdCIL Vidyanjali Scholarship Programme (VSP) on 6 February 2024. VSP organized at Rang Bhawan, All India Radio, New Delhi.
Objectives of Vidyanjali Scholarship Programme:
- It aims to revolutionize opportunities for quality education and access to higher education institutions.
- Under this initiative, there is a system to provide uninterrupted education facilities to meritorious students lacking resources from secondary till higher education. This program guarantees access to high quality learning systems.
- Towards an educated India, ensuring that no child is left behind.
- The event will strengthen the efforts of the government in promoting educational inclusivity and socio-economic upliftment in the country.
Vidyanjali is in line with NEP 2020 system:
- Speaking on the occasion, Pradhan said that the VSP is in line with the arrangements envisioned in the NEP 2020.
- Vidyanjali embodies the whole society's vision for empowerment through access to education and opportunities for students, especially those from economically disadvantaged sections.
Important MoUs agreed:
- During the event, important MoUs were exchanged with five different groups in the field of education in the presence of the Union Minister. These groups are:
- Fiat India
- HDFC Bank Limited
- Clearmedi Healthcare
- Bharat Forge
- Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation
- It reflects unity between the government and the private sector towards a shared vision of nation-building.
- During this initiative’s launch event the Union Minister also presented scholarship letters to six meritorious NVS students.
Private Sector Participation in Schools:
- An initiative has been taken by the Ministry to strengthen schools through community and private sector partnerships in schools across the country.
- Under this initiative, schools are expected to connect with experienced professionals from various fields. These can mainly include the following:
- Indian diaspora
- Young Professional
- Retired Teacher
- Retired Government Official
- Retired Professional.
About Vidyanjali Programme:
- The Vidyanjali program was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in September 2021 on the occasion of Shiksha Parv. Vidyanjali is a unique school volunteer management program of the Ministry of Education, Government of India under the Department of School Education and Literacy.
- The program provides opportunities to connect communities and organizations and volunteers with schools located in urban and rural geographies.
