The Army Commanders' Conference is being organized in New Delhi from 16 to 20 October 2023. This top-level biennial event is an institutional platform to facilitate conceptual discussions on important policy decisions of the Indian Army.
Conference Format:
In continuation of the new format brought in this year 2023, the upcoming scheduled Army Commanders' Conference is also being held in hybrid format.
Army Commanders and other senior officers will meet virtually on the first day of the conference, thereafter the remaining deliberations will be conducted in physical format.
Chaired by Army Chief General Manoj Pandey, the commanders are considering a range of issues, including the ongoing reform process in the 13 lakh-strong force, matters related to jointness among the three services and key geopolitical developments.
Talk on Leveraging Technology for National Security:
Chief of Defense Staff General Anil Chauhan and Air Chief Marshal VR Chaudhary were also among those who addressed the army commanders.
Ajay Kumar Sood, Principal Scientific Advisor to the Government of India, will also deliver a lecture on "Leveraging Technology for National Security".
Special focus on further strengthening the borders with China and Pakistan:
Top Army commanders began the five-day conference to discuss national security challenges along the borders with China and Pakistan and ways to enhance the overall combat capability of the force.
Defense Minister Rajnath Singh will participate in the conference to be held on 18 October 2023.
On this occasion, Defense Chief General Anil Chauhan, Army Chief General Manoj Pandey and Air Force Chief Air Chief Marshal V.R. Chaudhary will address the organized meeting.
Apart from reviewing the operational preparedness of the Indian Army, the top leadership will deliberate on the current/emerging security scenarios.
They will also discuss important topics including review of the current reform process, training matters, human resource management aspects and issues affecting serving personnel and veterans.
