Candidates going to participate in the HPSC HCS Prelims 2023 Examination should familiarize themselves with the examination pattern. Here is a comprehensive overview of the HPSC HCS Exam Pattern 2023 for your reference:

• The preliminary examination comprises two papers, both are conducted in bilingual mode (Hindi and English). 
• Both papers include questions of the objective type, presented in a multiple-choice format.
• Paper I encompasses General Studies, carrying a weightage of 100 marks, and has a duration of 2 hours.
• Paper II is the Civil Services Aptitude Test (CSAT) also valued at 100 marks, with a 2-hour time limit.
• In the case of incorrect responses, a deduction of one-fourth of a mark will be applied.
• It's important to note that the CSAT paper is qualifying, and candidates must achieve a minimum passing score of 33%.
