Preliminary Exam 

General Studies (G.S.)

General Science: General Science questions will encompass a broad understanding of science, including observations and experiences from daily life, in line with the knowledge one would expect from a well-educated individual without expertise in any specific scientific field. 

Current events: In the section concerning current events, your understanding of important national and international occurrences will be evaluated.

History: When it comes to the History of India and the Indian National Movement, the focus will be on a comprehensive grasp of the subject, encompassing its social, economic, and political dimensions. Questions regarding the Indian National Movement will pertain to the characteristics and nature of the resurgence in the nineteenth century, the development of nationalism, and the achievement of Independence.

Indian and World Geography: Within the Geography section, the primary focus will be on the Geography of India. Questions related to the Geography of India will cover the physical, social, and economic aspects of the country, encompassing key elements of Indian agriculture and natural resources.

Indian Culture, Indian Polity and Indian Economy: The segment on Indian Polity and Economy will assess your understanding of the country's political system and the Constitution of India. It will also include questions about Panchayati Raj, social structures, and economic advancements in India.

General Mental Ability: In the section of general mental ability, candidates will be evaluated based on their reasoning and analytical skills.

Haryana Specific: This section will cover aspects related to Haryana's economy, its people, as well as its social, economic, and cultural institutions. Additionally, it will include questions about the languages spoken in Haryana.

(d) Current National Issues and Topics of Social Relevance: This segment is designed to evaluate the candidate's awareness of current national issues and socially relevant subjects in contemporary India. It includes areas such as demography, human resources, behavioral and social issues, social welfare problems, law enforcement, human rights, corruption, communal harmony, internal security, environmental concerns, and the role and need for change in national institutions.

Part-II (a) India and the World: This part aims to assess the candidate's understanding of India's global relationships across various domains, including foreign affairs, external security, nuclear policy, and the Indian diaspora.

(b) Indian Economy: Questions in this section will focus on economic planning and development in India, economic and trade issues, foreign trade, and the roles and functions of international organizations such as the IMF, World Bank, and WTO.

(c) International Affairs and Institutions: This segment will include questions about significant events in world affairs and international organizations.

(d) Developments in the Fields of Science and Technology, Communications, and Space: This part will gauge the candidate's awareness of advancements in science and technology, as well as developments in communications, space, and fundamental computer concepts.

(e) Statistical Analysis, Graphs, and Diagrams: This section will contain exercises designed to assess the candidate's ability to draw logical conclusions from information presented in statistical, graphical, or diagrammatic forms.
