HPSC HCS Eligibility Criteria 2023 

Candidates should check the eligibility criteria for the Haryana Civil Services Examination 2023 before applying for the same. Eligibility criteria typically consist of three major factors which include nationality/citizenship, age limit/ relaxation and educational qualification. Here we are providing details on these factors through which you will be able to check the eligibility for HCS 2023:-

Nationality

To be eligible for the HCS examination, a candidate must meet one of the following criteria: 

(a) Be an Indian citizen. 

(b) Be a citizen of Nepal. 

(c) Be a citizen of Bhutan. 

(d) Be a Tibetan refugee who arrived in India before 1 January 1962, with the intention of staying in India permanently. 

(e) Be a person of Indian origin who has moved to India with the intention of making it their permanent home, and originally hailed from countries such as Pakistan, Burma, Tanzania, Sri Lanka, Kenya, Uganda, Zaire, Zambia, Malawi, Ethiopia or Vietnam.

Age Limit 

Candidates' age should be between 18 and 42 years old by 1 January 2023 except for the post of DSP. But, if you want to be a DSP, you should be between 18 and 27 years old by 1 January 2023. Relaxation in age is also permissible for special categories.

  5. Pay the application fee, which can be done through debit card, credit card, or net banking.
  6. Once the payment is completed, submit the application form.

The HPSC HCS Recruitment process involves a Preliminary Examination worth 200 marks, a Main examination carrying 600 marks, a Personality Test (Viva-voce) with a weightage of 75 marks, along with Document Verification and a Medical Test.

  • Paper II is the Civil Services Aptitude Test (CSAT) and is also worth 100 marks, with a duration of 2 hours.
  • For each incorrect response, a deduction of one-fourth of a mark will be applied.
  • The CSAT paper is qualifying in nature, with a minimum passing score of 33%.

(c) Indian Polity: Questions in this section will pertain to the Constitution of India, the political system, and related topics.

(d) Current National Issues and Topics of Social Relevance: This segment is designed to evaluate the candidate's awareness of current national issues and socially relevant subjects in contemporary India. Part-II (a) India and the World: This part aims to assess the candidate's understanding of India's global relationships across various domains, including foreign affairs, external security, nuclear policy, and the Indian diaspora.

(b) Indian Economy: Questions in this section will focus on economic planning and development in India, economic and trade issues, foreign trade, and the roles and functions of international organizations such as the IMF, World Bank, and WTO.

(c) International Affairs and Institutions: This segment will include questions about significant events in world affairs and international organizations.
