Patna Marine Drive: Digha to Deedarganj

Bihar govt plans to develop a 7-km stretch in Patna as 'Marine Drive' Digha to Deedarganj along the Ganges River.

The project is being developed on Mumbai's Marine Drive lines and is almost ready for the public.

About Marine Drive Patna

• Jointly developed by the Housing and Urban Development Corporation (HUDCO) and the Government of Bihar, this Marine Drive Patna is an ambitious project that spans a length of 20.5 km.
• The Ganga Path project comprises a 6.5 km-long stretch at-grade level and a 14 km-long elevated section, connecting Digha to Kacchi Dargah along the River Ganges. An expressway with four lanes is being constructed as a part of the Ganga Path development project, running parallel to the River Ganges.
• The completion of the project has been a top priority for the government for several years, and they have been making concerted efforts to ensure its realisation.
  • The project's first phase connects areas in Digha to AN Sinha Institute and is already open to the public.
  • The second phase is expected to be completed by the end of 2024, including an 18 km extension to Fatuha, a vital industrial area 24 km east of Patna.
• The expressway will have nine access points connected to Ashok Rajpath and will be a tolled road. Several four-lane approach roads are connected to Loknayak Ganga Path to enhance connectivity within the State.
• Atal Path and Ashok Rajpath are planned to connect to the Marine Drive via these approach lanes, further improving connectivity between different parts of the city.
