To apply for the Indian Navy SSC, follow these steps:
The Navy Short Service Commission Officer’s selection procedure consists of three stages:
Stage 1 Shortlisting
Stage 2 SSB interview
Stage 3 Medical Examination
To advance to Stage 2 and Stage 3, candidates must first qualify for the shortlisting stage. The detailed information on each stage is given below:
The candidates' qualifying degree normalised marks will be used to determine which applications are shortlisted. The candidates' qualifying degree grades will be normalized using Indian Navy formulas. The shortlisting criteria as per the post and qualification are as follows:
In this stage, the candidates are assessed for various Officer qualities at the Service Selection Boards. The qualities include planning & organising ability, dynamic ability, social adaptability, and social effectiveness.
The SSB is conducted in the following two stages:-
(i) Stage I Intelligence Test, Picture Perception, and Discussion Test.
(ii) Stage II Psychological Testing, Group Testing, and Interview
The final step of the selection procedure is the medical examination, which entails examining the candidates' physical health. The Indian Navy appoints a team of medical officers to conduct an overall check-up on the candidates to determine if their bodies are clear of sickness or deformity.
For all entries, a merit list will be created using SSB scores, depending on the number of vacancies and medical clearance by the board.
Things to keep in mind during the training period:
Officers in all disciplines and cadres must serve a two-year probationary period, according to the Indian Navy SSC Officer Recruitment Notification. For all entrants, the probationary period will start on the day the rank of Sub Lt was granted and end two years later when initial training is completed, whichever comes first. If the performance of the officer is unsatisfactory at any point/stage during their probation, their employment may be terminated.
The basic pay of Sub Lieutenants starts at Rs. 56,100/- (as per Pay Level 10), along with other allowances as applicable. To know the pay scale of Indian Navy officers, Click Here.
