UPSC NDA 1 Eligibility Criteria 2026 has been officially defined by the Union Public Service Commission in its notification. It covers key parameters such as nationality, age limit, educational qualifications, and other conditions that determine a candidate’s eligibility for the exam.
Before applying, candidates must carefully check all eligibility requirements to ensure they meet the prescribed standards. It is important to note that candidature will remain provisional at every stage of the selection process and will be confirmed only after document verification.

A candidate must be unmarried (male/female) and must either be:
(i) a Citizen of India, or
(ii) a subject of Nepal, or
(iii) a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka and East African Countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire and Ethiopia or Vietnam, intending to permanently settle in India.
Only unmarried male and female candidates born between 1st July 2007 and 1st July 2010 (both dates inclusive) are eligible to apply.
The candidates are required to submit Proof/Documents in Support of the age limit and marital Status.
Important:
Note: A candidate who marries after the date of his application, even if he is successful in this or any later examination, will not be chosen for training. A candidate who marries while in training will be discharged and must reimburse the government for all expenses incurred on his behalf.

Candidates who qualified for the SSB interview but were unable to produce their Matriculation/10+2 or equivalent certificate in original at the time of the SSB interview should send duly self-attested photocopies to 'Directorate General of Recruiting, Army HQ, West Block III, R.K. Puram, New Delhi-110066' and for Naval Academy candidates to Naval Headquarters, DMPR, OI&R Section, Room No. 204, 'C' Wing. The submission deadline for this request is 24 June 2025. Failure to meet this deadline will result in the cancellation of their candidature.

Stage I - Written Examination

Stage II - Intelligence & Personality Test
Following the written examination, the next level is the SSB interview, which involves the Personality test/Interview. The SSB interview has two parts. An IQ and personality test is administered initially, followed by a psychology test that comprises an interview, group discussion, and conference round.
Note: Candidates who clear Stage - I of the Personality Test are permitted to appear for Stage - II.
Candidates who pass both the interview and the document verification rounds are eligible for the medical exam.

B. SSB INTERVIEW (INTELLIGENCE & PERSONALITY TEST)
The SSB interview is worth 900 marks, and the total marks for the written exam and the SSB interview are 1800.
The NDA SSB Interview, as previously stated, is divided into two stages, each of which includes an intelligence and personality test:
(a) Stage I: Officer Intelligence Rating (OIR) tests include Picture Perception & Description Test (PP&DT). The candidates will be shortlisted based on a combination of performance in the OIR Test and PP&DT.
(b) Stage II: Interviews, Group Testing Officer Tasks, Psychology Tests and the Conference. These tests are conducted over a period of 4 days.
