Sanjiv Puri, ITC MD elected CII President for 2024-25 Person in News 4 min read

Chairman and Managing Director of ITC, Sanjiv Puri, has been elected as the President of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) for 2024-25. Sanjiv Puri replaces R Dinesh, Chairman of TVS Supply Chain Solutions as the President of CII.

Rajiv Memani has been appointed as the new  President-Designate, and R Mukundan has  been elected as the new Vice President of the CII for 2024-25

Sanjiv Puri is currently the Chairman & Managing Director of ITC Ltd. Sanjiv Puri is an alumnus of IIT, Kanpur, and Wharton School of Business, United States of America.

He was appointed Chairman of the Expert Group on agri-exports set up by the 15th Finance Commission. He has also been a member of the NITI Aayog Group on 'Farm to Table-driving India's agriculture sector digitally’. 

Sanjiv Puri was given the ‘Best CEO Award’ by Business Today in 2024. He was also honoured with the ‘Transformational Leader Award 2022-23’ by the  Asian Centre for Corporate Governance and Sustainability.

Rajiv Memani as CII President Designate 2024-25

Rajiv Memani is currently the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of consulting firm EY India. He is also an EY Global Executive Board member and the Chair of its Global Emerging Markets (EM) Committee.

Mr Memani is a graduate of the prestigious Shri Ram College of Commerce, Delhi University and is a Chartered Accountant.

R Mukundan as Vice President of Cii 2024-25

R Mukundan is currently the Managing Director and CEO of Tata Chemicals Limited. He studied at IIT Roorkee, completed his MBA from Delhi University, and attended Harvard Business School in the United States. He is a Fellow of the Indian Chemical Society. 

About Confederation of Indian Industries (CII)

The Confederation of Indian Industry is one of the oldest business lobby groups in India. It traces its origin to the setting up of the Engineering and Iron Trades Association in Bengal in 1895. After many changes in its name, it was renamed as Confederation of Engineering Industry (CEI) in 1986. 

It assumed its present name, Confederation of Indian Industry, in 1992.

It is an industry lobby group which represents business groups in India and puts pressure on the government to make business-friendly policies.
