External Affairs Minister Dr S. Jaishankar, who was on an official visit to Singapore, the Philippines, and Malaysia from 23 to 28 March 2024, successfully concluded his visit with a meeting with the Malaysian Minister of Digital, Gobind Singh Deo, on 28 March 2024.
India has a very close relationship with Singapore. Singapore is the country coordinator for India at the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and India invited Singapore as a Guest Country during India’s G20 presidency in 2023.
External Affairs Minister Dr S. Jaishankar first visited Singapore on his three-nation tour. During his visit (23-25 March), he met the Prime Minister of Singapore, Lee Hsien Loong, and the Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister, Lawrence Wong.
They held discussions on the deepening of ties between the two countries in the fields of fintech, digitalisation, green economy, skills development and food security.
S. Jaishankar also met Singapore's foreign minister, Vivian Balakrishnan.
During his visit. Dr Jaishankar paid homage to Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose at the INA marker in Singapore.

Dr S. Jaishankar visited the Philippines from 25-27 March 2024. During his visit, he met the Philippine President, Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr, and the Philippine foreign minister, Enrique A. Manalo. Both the foreign ministers reviewed the entire gamut of bilateral relations and agreed to deepen the ties between the two countries.
They agreed to hold commemorative events to mark the 75th Anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations.
Dr Jaishankar said that India fully supports the Philippines' sovereignty. The Philippines is engaged in a maritime dispute with China over the South China Sea islands.
During his visit, he addressed a gathering of senior Philippine government officials, Philippine Defence Forces members, and the Indian community on board the Indian Coast Guard Ship Samudra Paheredar on a port call in Manila.
The Philippines is the first country in the world to which India has sold its supersonic cruise missile Brahmos.

Dr Jaishnakar visited Malaysia from 27-28 March 2024 in the last leg of his three-nation tour.
He met Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Bin Ibrahim with a message from Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
During his meeting with Malaysian foreign minister Haji Mohamad Bin Haji Hasan, the two leaders discussed a wide range of bilateral and global issues.
Later, in a meeting with the Indian diaspora, he praised their contribution to deepening the India-Malaysia ties.
