Real-time flood forecast through mobile app 'Flood Watch'

Central Water Commission (CWC) Chairman, Kushvendra Vohra launched the mobile application “Flood Watch” on 17th August 2023 to provide information and forecast of flood situation for 7 days to the people on a real time basis.

This user-friendly app developed in-house has readable and audio broadcast content and all the information is available in 2 languages, English and Hindi.

• The salient feature of this app includes real-time flood monitoring where users can find out about the latest flood status across the country.

• This app uses real-time river flow data from various sources. The app also provides flood forecasts at the nearest location, where users can get information related to flood at their nearest location from the home page itself.

• Other key features include forecasting using an interactive map where users can get information on flood forecast (up to 24 hours) or flood advisories (up to 7 days) directly from the map or the user can search by station name in the search box. You can also get information.

• The "Floodwatch" app uses advanced technologies such as satellite data analysis, mathematical modelling and real-time monitoring to deliver accurate and timely flood forecasts.

• With the help of this app, users can get the necessary information about the flood situation in the country. The user-friendly interface will make it easy for anyone to access information and reduce the risk during floods.
