The 10th Governing Council Meeting of the National Institution for Transforming India (NITI) Aayog was held in New Delhi on 24 May 2025. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is also the ex-officio Chairman of the NITI Aayog, chaired the meeting. The Governing Council is the highest decision-making body of the NITI Aayog and meets annually.
All the State Chief Ministers except West Bengal and Karnataka attended the meeting. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin attended the meeting after boycotting it for the previous three years.
The meeting was also attended by the Lieutenant Governors of Union Territories, Union Ministers, the Vice Chairman Suman Bery, Members, and the CEO of NITI Aayog.
Speaking on the occasion, the Prime Minister emphasised One State: One Global Destination.
Every state shall develop at least one tourist destination with world-class standards and all infrastructure and tourist amenities.
The meeting focused on building a consensus among the Centre, States, and Union Territories on measures to enhance skilling, promote entrepreneurship and create sustainable employment opportunities across the country.
The National Institution for Transforming India (NITI) replaced the Planning Commission.
NITI Aayog was set up through an executive decision of the Government of India.
It came into existence on 1 January 2015.
Governing Council of NITI Aayog
The governing council is the main decision-making body of the NITI Aayog.
The Prime Minister is the ex officio chairperson of the NITI Aayog.
