PM Modi Chairs 10th Governing Council Meeting of NITI Aayog in Delhi

The 10th Governing Council Meeting of the National Institution for Transforming India (NITI) Aayog was held in New Delhi on 24 May 2025. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is also the ex-officio Chairman of the NITI Aayog, chaired the meeting. The Governing Council is the highest decision-making body of the NITI Aayog and meets annually.
Who attended the Meeting?
All the State Chief Ministers except West Bengal and Karnataka attended the meeting. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin attended the meeting after boycotting it for the previous three years.
The meeting was also attended by the Lieutenant Governors of Union Territories, Union Ministers, the Vice Chairman Suman Bery, Members, and the CEO of NITI Aayog.
Theme of the 10th Governing Council Meeting of NITI Aayog
- The 10th Governing Council Meeting theme was Viksit Rajya for Viksit Bharat@2047.
- The theme highlights the importance of the state's role in achieving the target of a Viksit Bharat, or a developed country, by 2047.
PM Modi calls for One State: One Global Destination.
Speaking on the occasion, the Prime Minister emphasised One State: One Global Destination.
Every state shall develop at least one tourist destination with world-class standards and all infrastructure and tourist amenities.
The meeting focused on building a consensus among the Centre, States, and Union Territories on measures to enhance skilling, promote entrepreneurship and create sustainable employment opportunities across the country.
National Institution for Transforming India (NITI) Aayog
The National Institution for Transforming India (NITI) replaced the Planning Commission.
NITI Aayog was set up through an executive decision of the Government of India.
It came into existence on 1 January 2015.
Governing Council of NITI Aayog
The governing council is the main decision-making body of the NITI Aayog.
The Prime Minister is the ex officio chairperson of the NITI Aayog.
Other members are ;
- Vice Chairperson of NITI Aayog,
- All members of NITI Aayog are ex-officio members of NITI Aayog.
- Chief ministers of all 28 states,
- The Chief Minister of the Union Territory of Puducherry, the National Capital Territory of Delhi, and Jammu and Kashmir.
- Lieutenant Governor of the Union Territory of Ladakh, Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

- Special invitees of NITI Aayog are also the Special invitees of the Governing Council,
- Administrator of Lakshadweep, Chandigarh, Demand, Diu & Dadra and Nagar Haveli.
