Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the first World Audio Visual and Entertainment Summit (WAVES) 2025 at the Jio World Centre in Mumbai on 1 May 2025. WAVES 2025 aims to put the Indian Media and Entertainment industry on the global map and engage global Media & Entertainment leaders.
WAVES 2025 focuses on the media and entertainment sectors, including Film, Broadcasting, Digital Media, Animation, Radio, VFX, Gaming, Music, Advertising, Print, Comics, and associated technologies.
As part of WAVES 2025, the government also organised a Global Media Dialogue to discuss issues related to global media and entertainment sectors, including the promotion of open and fair trade practices, exploring the ethical deployment of artificial intelligence in content creation and audience engagement, and promoting responsible journalism.
The WAVES 2025 has been orgainsed by the government of India with the following objectives.
As part of WAVES 2025, a Global Media Dialogue was organised on 2nd May 2025 in Mumbai. Ministers from 30 countries, including the United Kingdom, Russia, Egypt, Bhutan, Bahrain, Eswatini, and Indonesia, participated in the Global Media Dialogue.
The Global Media Dialogue was presided over by External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar, Union Minister of Railways, Information and Broadcasting, and Electronics and Information Technology, Ashwini Vaishnaw, and the Union Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting and Parliamentary Affairs, Dr. L. Murugan.
