Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the 2nd Akhil Bharatiya Shiksha Samagam being held at the Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi on 29th July 2023 and also released the first installment of funds under the Pradhan Mantri Schools for Rising India (PM SHRI) scheme. The day also coincides with the 3rd anniversary of the adoption of the New Education Policy (NEP).
2nd Akhil Bharatiya Shiksha Samagam is organized by the Ministry of Education and will be held on 29th and 30th July.
The Prime Minister also released education and skill curriculum books translated into 12 Indian languages.
The National Education Policy of India 2020 (NEP 2020), approved by the Union Cabinet of India on 29 July 2020. It replaced the previous National Policy on Education, 1986.
The vision of the policy is to build an education system rooted in Indian ethos that contributes directly to transforming India by providing high-quality education to all, thereby making India a global knowledge superpower.
Karnataka is the first state to implement the NEP 2020.
PM Schools for Rising India (PM SHRI) Scheme is a centrally sponsored scheme by Government of India. It will nurture students in a way that they become engaged, productive, and contributing citizens for building an equitable, inclusive, and plural society as envisaged by the National Education Policy 2020.
The Scheme is proposed to be implemented over a period of 5 years from 2022-23 to 2026-27.
The PM inaugurated the International Exhibition-cum-Convention Centre (IECC) complex at Pragati Maidan in New Delhi on July 26 which was named Bharat Mandapam.
The name ‘Bharat Mandapam' is the inspiration of ‘Anubhav Mandapam’ of Bhagwan Basaveshwara. Bhagwan Basaveshwar or Basavanna was a 12th-century philosopher, known for Socio-Religious Reforms, Vachana Literature and Lingayat Movement in south India
