New Delhi Hosts Maritime Financing Summit 2025 to Boost Blue Economy

The Maritime Financing Summit 2025, organised by the Union Ministry of Ports, Shipping & Waterways, was held in New Delhi on 24 July 2025. The Summit was part of the government of India’s Maritime Amrit Kaal Vision 2047, which aims to strengthen the country’s port infrastructure, encourage the domestic shipbuilding industry, and position India as one of the world's top maritime nations by 2047.
The Summit brought together policymakers, global investors, maritime industry leaders, experts, and financial institutions to discuss ways of mobilising resources for investment in the maritime sector to achieve the goal of Amrit Kaal.
The keynote address at the Maritime Financing Summit 2025 was delivered by Union Minister for Ports, Shipping, and Waterways, Sarbanand Sonowal.
He highlighted the following achievements of the maritime sector in India in his speech
A few initiatives for the development of the maritime sector were announced at the Summit.
Maritime Development Fund (MDF)
Launch of Financial Digital Maturity Matrix (FDMM)
The Maritime Finance Summit attracted participants from the entire maritime sector and the financial sector.
Financial institutions, shipyards, consultants, shipping companies, and industry associations participated in the Summit.
State maritime boards of Gujarat, Maharashtra, and Andhra Pradesh also participated in the Summit.
Representatives from foreign embassies of Norway, Singapore, the Netherlands, Greece, Japan, Germany, Denmark, Italy, Australia, and Cyprus were also present.
