Indian Navy Launches 5th Diving Support Craft 'DSC A24'

The Indian Navy launched DSC A24, the fifth ship of its five-vessel Diving Support Craft (DSC) Project, on 1st August 2026 at Titagarh, Kolkata, West Bengal. The vessel was launched by Mrs Kamal Singh in the presence of Vice Admiral Gurcharan Singh, Chief of Personnel, with full naval traditions and ceremonial splendour, alongside senior officials from the Indian Navy and Titagarh Rail Systems Limited (TRSL).

Design and Construction of the 5th Diving Support Craft

The Diving Support Craft are being built by TRSL, Kolkata, featuring a catamaran-hull form with an approximate displacement of 300 to 400 tons. This design gives the ships superior stability, enhanced deck area, and improved sea-keeping characteristics, making them well-suited for diving operations. The vessels are designed and built in accordance with the Naval Rules and Regulations of the Indian Register of Shipping (IRS).

Boost to Navy's Underwater Capabilities

With the induction of these ships, the Indian Navy's capabilities in Diving Support, Underwater Inspection, Salvage Assistance and Coastal Operational Deployment will be significantly augmented, strengthening the Navy's offshore diving operations.

With 70 percent of main and auxiliary equipment sourced from indigenous manufacturers, the Diving Support Craft stand as proud flag bearers of the Aatmanirbhar Bharat and Make in India initiatives of the Government of India and Ministry of Defence.
