Tata Electronics to Sign 16 MoUs at SEMICON India 2026

Tata Electronics will sign 16 Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with Indian and global companies at SEMICON India 2026, held on 17-18 September 2026. The agreements aim to strengthen the company's semiconductor supply chain. CEO Randhir Thakur shared the details at the event.

Semiconductor Fabrication Facility

Tata Electronics is building a semiconductor fabrication facility in Dholera, Gujarat, and a semiconductor packaging unit in Jagiroad, Assam. Thakur said both projects are moving according to government schedules.

• Ecosystem partners: More than 450 partners are working on the Dholera project, covering construction, chemicals, equipment, and materials.
• Earlier deal: The new MoUs follow the company's partnership with ASML, a supplier of semiconductor lithography equipment.
• Sector growth: India's electronics sector has grown from about ₹2 lakh crore in 2014 to over ₹13 lakh crore in 2026.

Thakur said the question is no longer whether India can make semiconductors, but how quickly and deeply the local ecosystem can be built.

Planned Partnerships and Domestic Partners

The MoUs cover suppliers across different parts of the semiconductor value chain. They relate to manufacturing, materials supply, infrastructure support, packaging, and workforce development.

International Partners

• Europe: Nexperia and Besi
• Japan: JSR, Fujifilm, Sumitomo, Sojitz and Enomoto
• Malaysia: Kelington
• Singapore: Ascendas Firstspace

Domestic Partners

• L&T Semiconductors
• Inox Air Products
• Semiconductor Laboratory
• Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya

Focus on Semiconductor Workforce

Tata Electronics has created more than 1.5 lakh direct jobs across its operations. Women make up 65 percent of its workforce, including many from remote villages and marginalised communities.

The company is also preparing skilled talent for chip manufacturing. Around 300 Indian university graduates are currently training at the fabrication facilities of Powerchip Semiconductor Manufacturing Corporation (PSMC) in Taiwan.
