National Sports Award 2024 announced get the full List Award and Honour 4 min read

The Union Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports announced the names of the winners of the 2024 National Sports Award winner on 2 January 2025. The award winners will be felicitated by President Droupadi Murmu at a function at the Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi on 17th January 2025.

About the National Sports Award 

The National Sports Award consists of the Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna Award, Arjuna Award, Dronacharya Award, Arjuna Awards Lifetime Award (earlier Major  Dhyan Chand Award), Maulana Abul Kalam Azad Trophy and the Rashtriya Khel Protsahan Puruskar.

Except Rashtriya Khel Protsahan Puruskar all other prizes are given to individual sports persons or coaches only. The  Rashtriya Khel Protsahan Puruskar is given to an individual or an institution for their exemplary contribution to promoting sports.

The government of India also instituted the Tenzing Norgay National Adventure Award in 1993-94 and since 2004 is given to the winner along with the other National Sports Award winner. The award winner's name will be announced later on.

Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna is the highest sports award in the country. It was earlier known as the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award and was renamed in 2021 as the Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna Award.
