India's BRICS Chairship to Host $1 Trillion Global Sovereign Capital Summit
Updated: 05 Sep 2026
2 Min Read

New Delhi is set to become the world's financial capital for two days this September. India, as the current BRICS Chair, will host the 18th BRICS Summit alongside a landmark investment gathering that could reshape how member nations move money across borders.
Bharat Mandapam will welcome heads of state from BRICS member and partner countries, along with outreach invitees, on September 12 and 13. This marks India's turn at the helm of the bloc, and the venue itself signals the scale of ambition, bringing together leaders from across the Global South to chart shared priorities for trade, technology, and development.
India's chairship carries a theme that ties directly to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's broader worldview: "Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability." According to the Ministry of External Affairs, this framing puts people at the center of BRICS priorities, echoing the Prime Minister's "Humanity First" philosophy. It's less about grand declarations and more about practical outcomes that touch ordinary citizens across member nations.
Running parallel to the main summit, at The Oberoi in New Delhi, is something entirely new: the founding iBRICS Summit. Organized by the Sovereign Wealth Fund Institute, this event isn't for heads of state; it's for the people who control the money. Over 500 institutional investors, finance ministers, and business leaders will gather to connect sovereign capital directly with infrastructure, energy, and digital projects across BRICS nations. Think of it as the financial engine room running quietly beside the diplomatic stage upstairs.
