India to Host 12h BRICS Labour Ministers' Meeting 2026

India will host the BRICS Labour and Employment Ministers' Meeting in Hyderabad on 15 and 16 July 2026 as part of its BRICS presidency. The meeting will focus on labour market formalisation, workforce skilling, social security, and women's participation in employment, bringing together representatives from BRICS member countries and international organisations.

12th BRICS Labour Ministers Meeting Theme 2026

India's 2026 BRICS Chairship operates under the theme "Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability." The Second Employment Working Group Meeting under this chairship was held in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, on 6–7 May 2026, focusing on social security systems, labour market formalisation, women's workforce participation, and skills and employability cooperation.

Union Labour and Employment Minister Mansukh Mandaviya is expected to deliver the keynote address at the inaugural session. Representatives from the International Labour Organization, the International Social Security Association, the UN resident coordinator's office, and employers' and workers' organisations are also expected to attend.

BRICS is a grouping of major emerging economies that holds ministerial meetings on sector-specific issues, including labour and employment. The Labour and Employment Ministers' Meeting is a formal mechanism used by member countries to coordinate policy positions on employment and social security.
