13th BRICS Education Ministers' Meeting to Be Held in Odisha

India's Ministry of Education is hosting the 13th BRICS Education Ministers' Meeting and 3rd BRICS Senior Officials' Meeting from 5–7 August 2026 in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, as part of India's BRICS chairship 2026.

Priority Areas of the 13th BRICS Education Ministers' Meeting

1. Strengthening Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE)
2. Skill development under the BRICS TVET Cooperation Alliance (TCA)
3. Promoting collaborative research, innovation and start-ups
4. Strengthening Mutual Recognition of Qualifications (MRQ)
5. Capacity building for academic leadership

Events Held Before the BRICS Education Ministers' Meeting

1. Before this meeting, India held several events as part of the BRICS Education Track. The 1st and 2nd Senior Officials' Meetings took place on 7 and 28 April 2026. 
2. The BRICS Network University Conference and Governing Board Meeting followed on 20–21 July 2026. 
3. Just before the ministerial meeting, the BRICS TVET Symposium and Joint Management Committee (JMC) meeting were held in New Delhi on 3–4 August 2026, led by the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, to boost cooperation in technical and vocational training.

Model BRICS: Youth Participation Initiative under BRICS Chairship

India's BRICS chairship also focuses on getting young people involved. Model BRICS is a student-focused initiative held alongside BRICS Ministerial Meetings across India. It helps students understand how BRICS works, along with diplomacy and group decision-making.

Why Does the 13th BRICS Education Ministers' Meeting Matter?

The meeting shows India's effort to build stronger educational ties among BRICS nations. It also reflects the people-first approach PM Narendra Modi spoke about at the 2025 BRICS Summit in Rio de Janeiro.
