Javokhir Sindarov wins the FIDE Chess World Cup title

Uzbekistan GM Javokhir Sindarov defeated GM Wei Yi 1.5–0.5 in the tiebreak to win the 2025 FIDE World Cup title and along with this he won a cash prize of $120,000.

• Nineteen-year-old Uzbekistan GM Javokhir Sindarov defeated GM Wei Yi 1.5–0.5 in the tiebreak to win the 2025 FIDE World Cup and the top prize of $120,000. He became the first Uzbek chess player to win the World Cup.
• Javokhir Sindarov secured the title after a tense tiebreak match that lasted just two games, and made history as the youngest-ever FIDE World Cup champion.
• Wei will get second place and $85,000. A day earlier, GM Andrey Esipenko won third place and secured a spot in the FIDE Candidates Tournament, earning $60,000, while GM Nodirbek Yakubboev received $50,000.
• The winner, runner-up and third-place finisher get the right to play in the Candidates Tournament 2026. This event was won by Javokhir Sindarov, who became the youngest player ever to win the event at the age of 19.

• The Chess World Cup 2023 was a 209-player single-elimination chess tournament held from 30 July to 24 August, 2023 in Baku, Azerbaijan. It was the 10th edition of the Chess World Cup.
• The winners, runners-up and third-place finishers (Magnus Carlsen, R Praggnanandhaa and Fabiano Caruana) earned the right to play in the Candidates Tournament 2024.
