India won a silver medal in the women's trap team shooting event at the Asian Games on 29th September, 2026. The Indian women's trio finished second, behind China. The men's trap team had a tougher day and ended sixth. Here are the key details for exam preparation.
Three Indian shooters competed in the team event: Neeru Dhanda, Aashima Ahlawat and Manisha Keer. Their individual qualification scores were added together to get the team total.
Together they scored 328 points, enough for second place. China won gold with 346 points. The Chinese team was Liu Shanshan, Sun Yunong and Zhu Jingyu. Kuwait took bronze with 325 points, just three behind India. Their team was Alhawal Shahad, Abdulmalik Hajar and Alhawal Sarah.
Neeru Dhanda was India's best performer of the day. She scored 118 in the individual qualification round, tying for the top spot with Qatar's Ray Bassil. This score is also a qualification record for the Asian Games. Both shooters moved into the final round, which has eight shooters.
The other two Indians did not make it. Aashima Ahlawat finished 16th and Manisha Keer finished 23rd.
The men's trap team was a disappointment. Shapath Bharadwaj, Kynan Chenai and Ahvar Rizvi scored 339 together and finished sixth among 10 teams. Kuwait won gold with 355, Qatar took silver with 349, and Kazakhstan won bronze with 348.
There was some good news, though. Shapath Bharadwaj, a 24-year-old from Meerut, finished eighth in qualification and reached the final. He won a shoot-off against Mohammed Al-Rumaihi for the last of the eight final spots.
