Meeting
4th India-Singapore Ministerial Roundtable (ISMR) to Be Held in Singapore
Updated: 20 Aug 2026
4 Min Read

Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal is visiting Singapore from August 19-21, 2026, as part of continued engagement under the India-Singapore Ministerial Roundtable (ISMR) framework. The visit brings together top-level government officials from both countries to strengthen ties under the India-Singapore Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
Alongside the ministerial talks, the 4th India-Singapore Business Roundtable (ISBR) is also being held, bringing an Indian business delegation of around 70 senior leaders to Singapore. This delegation spans sectors like technology, AI, manufacturing, infrastructure, financial services, healthcare, food and agriculture, logistics, and professional services, aiming to build stronger commercial ties between the two nations.
Mr. Goyal is taking part in the ISMR on August 20, which functions as the top-level ministerial platform driving India-Singapore's strategic partnership forward. He is joined by other senior ministers, including Nirmala Sitharaman, S Jaishankar, and Ashwini Vaishnaw, who are meeting their Singaporean counterparts during the visit. The Roundtable will be followed by an MoU signing ceremony and a lunch hosted by Singapore's Deputy Prime Minister for all delegates. Mr. Goyal is also scheduled to meet Singapore's Prime Minister Lawrence Wong at the Istana during his visit.
Beyond the ministerial meetings, the Indian delegation will engage in business-to-business discussions, government-to-business interactions, and institutional visits, including trips to Centres of Excellence and skilling institutions in Singapore. These engagements are focused on building partnerships, exploring investment opportunities, improving market access, and supporting talent development between the two countries.
As part of the G2B interactions, Goyal is meeting senior representatives from organisations such as the Global Finance & Technology Network, Temasek Holdings, Keppel Infrastructure, and IHH Healthcare, along with a delegation led by the Singapore Business Federation Chairman. These meetings are expected to be followed by a Family Office Roundtable discussion.
During the visit, Goyal is also visiting an APEDA-FairPrice initiative at City Square Mall alongside Singapore's Minister of State Gan Siow Huang. This initiative is aimed at boosting Indian agri-food exports and expanding their presence in Singapore's retail market, reflecting the growing agricultural trade relationship between both countries.
As part of Mr. Goyal Singapore visit, he is attending the India-Singapore Business Forum, hosted by FICCI at the INSEAD Asia Campus. Here, he is joining a fireside chat on India's role in shaping global growth and the opportunities it presents for businesses across Asia, followed by a networking dinner bringing together business leaders from both countries. His trip wraps up with a keynote address at the ICAI ASEAN Conference 2026, held at the Marina Bay Sands Expo and Convention Centre.
Singapore holds a significant place in India's economic partnerships, particularly as a source of foreign investment. It was the top contributor of FDI into India in FY 2025-26, bringing in USD 19.8 billion, and its total FDI contribution since 2000 has crossed USD 194 billion, making up close to a quarter of all FDI India has received. Singapore also holds the position of India's biggest trading partner within ASEAN, while playing an important role in external commercial borrowings and foreign portfolio investment flowing into India.
Trade between the two countries has picked up considerably since the India-Singapore Comprehensive Economic Cooperation Agreement came into force, growing from around USD 6.7 billion in FY 2004-05 to over USD 36 billion in FY 2025-26. This steady rise reflects how the relationship has deepened over the past two decades, with Singapore emerging as a key partner not just in trade, but also in areas like advanced manufacturing, digital transformation, skills development, and green economy initiatives, all themes that this visit aims to build further momentum on.
