Task Force Falcon Strike: First Multinational, Multi-Domain Attack-Drone Task Force
Updated: 14 Aug 2026
2 Min Read

US Central Command (CENTCOM) has announced the creation of Task Force Falcon Strike, described as the first multinational, multi-domain attack-drone task force, on 13th August, 2026. The unit will bring together the US and regional military partners to operate attack drones across air, land, and maritime domains, marking a significant step in how allied nations coordinate unmanned military technology in the Middle East.
Falcon Strike is a new US-led initiative that expands on an earlier unit called Task Force Scorpion Strike, which was set up nine months ago as the US military's first dedicated one-way attack-drone squadron in the region. Scorpion Strike had already achieved several milestones, including launching an aerial attack drone from a US Navy warship for the first time in December, and using unmanned attack vessels during strikes on Iranian port facilities in July. Building on this experience, Falcon Strike aims to bring in regional allies and partners to jointly develop and deploy these drone capabilities, rather than the US operating alone. CENTCOM commander Adm Brad Cooper said the expansion reflects the strong innovation already happening among regional partners.
The term "multi-domain" here refers to drones operating across different environments at once โ air, land, and maritime, including unmanned systems that function above, on, and below the sea. This means Falcon Strike isn't limited to just aerial drones; it also covers unmanned vessels and systems designed for naval and undersea operations, giving the task force a much broader operational reach than a typical single-domain drone unit.
