Indian Naval Ship Mysore has completed its participation in the fourth edition of Exercise Samudra Laksamana, conducted with the Royal Malaysian Navy at Lumut, Malaysia. The exercise, held as part of the Indian Navy's ongoing operational deployment, ran from September 9 to 12, 2026, and served as another step forward in strengthening maritime ties between the two nations.
The exercise gave both navies the chance to work together across a wide range of professional and operational activities. It began with a harbour phase, during which naval personnel from India and Malaysia took part in exchanges aimed at sharing experience and building stronger understanding between the two forces. This was followed by an operational phase at sea, where the ships carried out coordinated manoeuvres designed to improve interoperability and sharpen the ability of both navies to operate together effectively.
The successful conclusion of this exercise reflects how naval cooperation between India and Malaysia has matured over the years. It also shows the importance of continued professional engagement in building greater trust and coordination between the two maritime forces. This edition builds on recent bilateral momentum, including the 12th India-Malaysia Sub Committee Meeting held in July 2026, further strengthening the foundation of cooperation between the two navies.
Representing India in this exercise was INS Mysore, which exercised alongside two ships from the Royal Malaysian Navy — KD Lekir and KD Gagah Samudera. Together, these vessels carried out joint maritime drills at sea, working on coordination and readiness to operate as a combined force during future engagements.
This exercise stands as another milestone in the growing India-Malaysia maritime partnership, reflecting the two countries' shared commitment to deepening defence and naval ties in the region.
