India-Morocco Joint Defence Committee: First Meeting Held in New Delhi

India and Morocco held their inaugural Joint Defence Committee (JDC) meeting in New Delhi on 8 September 2026. The meeting brought senior defence officials from both countries together to review existing cooperation and chart out new areas of collaboration, ahead of the 70th anniversary of bilateral ties in 2027.
This JDC meeting didn't happen in isolation; it stems directly from a defence MoU signed a year earlier. When Raksha Mantri Rajnath Singh visited Morocco in September 2025, the two countries formalised a Memorandum of Understanding on defence cooperation. That agreement set up an institutional framework for regular dialogue, and the JDC is the first concrete outcome of that mechanism.
The meeting was co-chaired by Joint Secretary (International Cooperation) in the Ministry of Defence, Amitabh Prasad, and Brigadier General Abdellah Athmani, Chief of the 2nd Bureau of the Moroccan Royal Armed Forces.

Moroccan delegation's visit (7–10 September 2026) included several notable stops. Brigadier General Athmani began by paying tribute at the National War Memorial in New Delhi. The delegation then visited DPSU Bhawan to explore India's defence manufacturing capabilities, and was scheduled to visit Army Hospital (Research & Referral) to learn about India's military medicine expertise.
