Hockey Haryana beat hosts Hockey Maharashtra in the final to win the 14th Hockey India Senior Women National Championship. The final was played at the Major Dhyanchand Hockey Stadium in Pimpri, Pune, Maharashtra, on 23 March 2024.
In the final, the two teams were tied at 1-1 at the end of the full-time. In the ensuing penalty shootout, Hockey Haryana defeated Maharashtra 3-0 to win the 14th Hockey India Senior Women National Championship for the third time. Hockey Haryana won the Senior Women's National Championship in 2013 and 2020.
Deepika, the leading goal scorer of the tournament, scored for Haryana and Akshata Abaso Dhekale scored the equaliser for Maharashtra in regulation time.
Navneet Kaur, Usha and Sonika scored for Hockey Haryana in the penalty shootout, while the Maharashtra team failed to score a single goal.
Hockey Haryana captain Savita saved three goals to lead her team to victory.
Savita is also the captain and goalkeeper of the Indian women’s Hockey team.
Hockey India held the 14th Hockey India Senior Women National Championship at the Major Dhyanchand Hockey Stadium Pimpri in Pune, Maharashtra from 13-23 March 2024.
A total of 27 teams participated in the tournament organised by Hockey India. The 27 teams were divided into eight pools.
The first Hockey India Senior Women National Championship was held in 2011, and it was won by the Indian Railways team.
The Indian Railways team has won the Championship a record 8 times.
The 13th Hockey India Senior Women National Championship 2023 was won by Hockey Madhya Pradesh.
