Four-time Olympian Deepika Kumari won a silver medal on 20 October 2024 in the women’s recurve event at the 2024 Archery World Cup Final held in Tlaxcala, Mexico. She lost to the Chinese archer Li Jiaman 6-0 in the final. Li Jiaman was part of the Chinese women’s archery team that won the silver medal in Paris 2024.
The 18th Archery World Cup Final was organised by World Archery and hosted by Mexico on 19 and 20 October 2024 at Tlaxcala, Mexico.
The silver medal at the Archery World Cup Final 2024 was Deepika's sixth medal in the Archery World Cup Finals. Thirty-year-old Deepika Kumari won silver medals in the 2011, 2012, 2013, 2015, and 2024 editions, while she won a bronze medal in the 2018 edition.
In Tlaxcala, Mexico, Deepika defeated Chinese Yang Xiaolei in the quarter-final in straight sets 6-0, while in the semi-finals, she defeated Mexico’s Alejandra Valencia 6-4.
Five Indian archers, including Asian Games champion Jyothi Surekha Vennam, competed at the 2024 Archery World Cup Final. However, except for Deepika, none were able to win a medal.
The world Archery sport governing body, World Archery, organises a series of tournaments in a calendar year known as the Archery World Cup. The best-performing archers of the year qualify for the season-ending Archery World Cup Final.
The Archery World Cup Final features eight male and female archers who compete in the individual compound and recurve events.
