The Indian National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval met his Russian counterpart Russian Security Council Secretary Nikolai Patrushev in St.Petersburg , Russia on 24 April 2024 and discussed important bilateral issues. NSA Ajit Doval was on a visit to Russia to attend the 12th International Meeting of High Ranking Officials Responsible for Security Matters.
The discussions between NSA Doval and his Russian counterpart Nikolai Patrushev covered a wide range of topics, including counterterrorism efforts, cyber security and defence cooperation.
The 12th International Meeting of High Ranking Officials Responsible for Security Matters was orgainsed by Russia at St. Petersburg ,Russia from 22-25 April 2024. Delegates and senior high ranking officials of 106 countries attended the meeting.
The International Meeting of High Ranking Officials Responsible for Security Matters is a prestigious event which provides a platform for global leaders to discuss and address pressing security challenges facing the nations.
The meeting was addressed by Russian President Vladimir Putin. Speaking on the occasion, President Putin highlighted the threat of international terrorism and identified it as a paramount menace of the 21st century.
President Putin referred to the recent terrorist attack on the Crocus City Hall in Moscow by the ISIS-Khorasan group in March 2024, in which over 130 people were killed.
President Putin called upon the delegates to engage in substantive discussions at both regional and international levels to build a united front against contemporary challenges.
During the international meeting, NSA Ajit Doval also attended the BRICS NSA meeting hosted by the Secretary of the Russian Federation’s Security Council, Nikolai Patrushev. NSA Doval emphasised the need for closer cooperation amongst the international community in the fight against terrorism and to formulate concrete actions so as to prevent trans-border planning, funding and execution of terrorist acts.

NSA Ajit Doval also met his Myanmar counterpart, Admiral Moe Aung. Both discussed the current situation in Myanmar, where the government forces are fighting against the rebels. They also talked about the infrastructure being built by India in Myanmar, like Sittwe ports etc.
They also discussed recent developments along the India-Myanmar border, including issues related to refugees, development projects and other security issues. Etc.
