RBI Assistant Recruitment Notification 2023 has been released by the Reserve Bank of India for the recruitment of ‘Assistant-2023’ in various offices of Reserve Bank of India. Online applications have been invited from interested & eligible candidates for the post of Assistant in RBI from 13 September to 4 October 2023. 

Candidates for the post will undergo a selection process through a country-wide competitive examination comprising two phases: the Preliminary examination and the Main examination. Successful candidates must take a Language Proficiency Test (LPT) as part of the selection procedure.

RBI Assistant Exam Eligibility Criteria

The RBI has released the RBI Assistant Notification, which provides detailed eligibility criteria. These criteria typically cover factors such as nationality, age limits, and educational qualifications. Prior to submitting their applications, candidates must verify that they meet all the specified eligibility requirements for the advertised positions.

(a) Nationality

An eligible candidate must fall into one of the following categories:

  • A citizen of India.
  • A subject of Nepal.
  • A subject of Bhutan.
  • A Tibetan refugee who arrived in India prior to 1 January 1962 with the intent of establishing permanent residency in India.
  • A person of Indian origin who has relocated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, or the East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia, or Vietnam, also with the intention of establishing permanent residency in India.

(b) Age Limit 

To apply for the RBI Assistant Exam 2023, candidates must be between 20 and 28 years old, i.e. candidates must have been born between 02/09/1995 and 01/09/2003. (both dates inclusive)

Relaxation Age

 Candidates belonging to the reserved categories will be entitled to get relaxation in age as per the provision made by the Reserve Bank of India. 

Candidates must check the relaxation criteria before applying for the RBI Assistant Post. The upper age limit can be relaxed as follows:

Ex-Servicemen

For candidates coming under the Ex-servicemen category, their maximum age limit can be extended to include the duration of their service in the Armed Forces, along with an additional period of 3 years, provided that the total age does not exceed 50 years.

Widows, divorced women, and women who have been judicially separated and have not remarried are eligible under this category.

Upto 35 years (40 years for SC/ST)

Candidates with prior work experience in the Reserve Bank of India (RBI)

up to a maximum of 3 years as an advantage when determining eligibility or benefits in the recruitment process.

Educational Qualification 

Candidates interested in applying for the RBI Assistant 2023 recruitment must meet the following educational qualifications:  

  1. Possess a Bachelor's Degree in any discipline with a minimum of 50% marks (pass class for SC/ST/PwBD candidates) in the aggregate and have proficiency in word processing on a PC.                        
  2. Ex-servicemen category candidates (excluding dependents of ex-servicemen) should either hold a graduate degree from a recognised University or have successfully completed the matriculation. Alternatively, candidates falling under the Ex-servicemen category should have either completed a graduate degree from a recognised university or passed the matriculation or an equivalent examination while serving in the Armed Forces, with a minimum of 15 years of defence service.
  3. Applicants applying for positions in a specific recruiting Office must demonstrate proficiency in the language of that state or any of the states covered by the recruiting Office, including the ability to read, write, speak, and understand the language.

RBI Assistant Application Process 2023

Applying for the RBI Assistant 2023 position can only be done online through the official Bank's website. No other method for submitting applications will be accepted. The crucial dates for online application have been communicated through the RBI Assistant 2023 Notification, released on 13 September 2023. 

It is highly advisable for candidates who have been anticipating this notification to complete their applications well in advance of the deadline, which is set for 4 October 2023. To successfully apply, please follow these instructions:

  1. First, the candidates should visit the Reserve Bank of India's official website.
  2. Look for the "Recruitment for the post of Assistant" link and click on it.
  3. Select the ‘Click Here for New Registration’ tab to start the registration process.
  4. Fill in your Name, contact details, and Email-id to complete the registration. You will receive an email and SMS containing your provisional registration number and password.
  5. Once the registration process is successfully completed, you will gain access to the application form.
  6. Fill in your personal details and enter your educational qualifications.
  7. Choose your preference for the Assistant post and Indicate the languages you are proficient in. 
  8. If applicable, provide details of your work experience.
  9. Upload the necessary documents on your application form, including
    1. Scanned copy of your Photograph in JPG or JPEG format only.
    2. Scanned copy of your Signature in JPG or JPEG format only.
  10. Click on the ‘Preview Tab’ to review your application form before submission. If required, make the necessary changes and again review the application form.
  11. Once you are satisfied with the information you entered, click on the ‘Final Submit’ option to submit your application.
  12. Click on the ‘Payment’ tab to proceed with the payment of the application fee.
  13. Upon successfully making the payment, a fee receipt will be generated. Make sure to save this receipt for future reference and record-keeping.
  14. Download the filled-in application form and save it for your records.

The RBI's selection process for the Assistant position involves three distinct stages: Preliminary, Main, and Language Proficiency Tests (LPT). The final selection outcome is determined based on the candidate’s performance in the Main Exam and the Language test.

RBI Assistant Main Exam Pattern

The main examination comprises five sections: Reasoning, Quantitative Aptitude, English Language, Computer Knowledge, and General Awareness. The details for the same are mentioned below:-

i. The online test, with the exception of the English Language section, will be available in both English and Hindi languages.

ii. To pass the Objective test, a candidate must qualify in each section separately.

iii. To be eligible to appear in the Main Examination, the candidates must first qualify the Preliminary Examination.

iv. Negative marking applies to wrong answers in the Objective tests. For each incorrect response, 1/4 of the marks assigned to the question will be deducted.

Language Proficiency Test (LPT)

Candidates provisionally selected after the main online examination will be required to participate in a Language Proficiency Test (LPT). This LPT will be conducted in the Official or Local Language(s) of the State. Candidates who are not proficient in the Official or Local Language will be disqualified from the final selection.

RBI Assistant Salary

The selected candidates will get their salary in the basic pay of ₹20,700 per month, following the pay scale of ₹20,700 – 1200 (3) – 24,300 – 1,440 (4) – 30,060 – 1,920 (6) – 41,580 – 2,080 (2) – 45,740 – 2,370 (3) – 52,850 – 2,850 (1) – 55,700. In addition to this, they will receive various allowances, as per applicable regulations.

The initial Monthly Gross Emoluments (excluding House Rent Allowance) for the Assistant position are estimated to be around ₹47,849. If the candidates do not reside in Bank-provided accommodation, they will also receive House Rent Allowance at a rate of 15% of their Pay.
