Young poet critic Nishant has been announced to be given the 29th Devi Shankar Awasthi Award for the year 2023. Nishant will be given this honor for his criticism book 'Kavita Pathak Aalochna'.
The honor selection committee included senior writers Mridula Garg, Sudhir Chandra, Purushottam Ashok Vajpayee and Kamlesh Awasthi.
According to committee convenor Kamlesh Awasthi, Nishant was unanimously selected for this award. Apart from criticism, Nishant also writes poetry.
About Dr. Devishankar Awasthi Award:
Dr. Devishankar Awasthi was a renowned critic of Hindi literature. In his memory, the honor has been given to a young critic every year for the last 29 years.
Basically this award is given to a young critic for his significant contribution in the development of Hindi criticism.
Giving of this award was started in the year 1995.
It was founded in the memory of the famous Hindi critic Devi Shankar Awasthi by his wife Kamlesh Awasthi and his family.
This honor is given to a young critical writer up to the age of 45 years.
This honor will be presented at a ceremony to be held at the Sahitya Akademi Auditorium, New Delhi on 5 April 2024.
After the felicitation ceremony, there will also be a discussion on the topic 'Criticism and Readers', in which all the eminent scholars of the country will be present.
Dr. Devishankar Awasthi Award for 2022:
Sujata's book 'Alochana Ka Stree Paksha' has been selected for the Dr Devi Shankar Awasthi Award for any young book critic published in the year 2022. This decision was taken unanimously by the selection committee which included Shri Rajendra Kumar, Nand Kishore Acharya, Ashok Vajpayee and Kamlesh Awasthi.
Whereas the Devi Shankar Awasthi Award for the year 2021 was given to Jharkhand's litterateur Achyutanand Mishra. Achyutanand Mishra was given this honor for his criticism book ‘Kolahal Mein Kavita Ki Awaaz’.
About young poet Nishant:
Nishant was born on October 4, 1978, in Lalganj, Basti (U.P.).
Nishant's educational name is Bijay Kumar Saav and home name is Mithailal.
Nishant has done M.A., M.Phil., Ph.D. (Hindi) from JNU.
Nishant is currently an assistant professor at Kazi Nazrul University.
Nishant's first poem was published in Jansatta in 1993 under the name of ‘Mithailal’.
