Rajiv Gandhi Swarojgar Start Up Yojana Started By Himachal Government

The cabinet of Himachal Pradesh has announced the initiation of phase-11 of the Rajiv Gandhi Swarozgar Start-Up Yojana. 

• This initiative aims to set up Solar Power Projects (SPPs) for young people aged between 21 and 45. The ultimate goal of this program is to promote the state government's 'clean energy' initiatives.

The scheme encourages rural youth to set up solar power plants on their land, providing incentives for self-employment opportunities.

Focus: The initiative by the government focuses on the SPPs installation with capacities ranging from 100 kW to 500 kW, contributing substantially to the state's renewable energy targets. 

This is expected to ensure self-employment and stimulate economic growth amongst the youth in times to come.

Benefits: Under this scheme, participants will be eligible to receive a monthly income of approximately Rs. 20,000 for 25 years if they install a 100 kW power plant on three bighas of land. 

For projects with a capacity of 200 kW and 500 kW, to be set up on five and ten bighas of land, respectively, participants will be eligible to receive Rs. 40,000 and Rs. 1 lakh per month.

Eligibility: Under the scheme, the beneficiary must pay a security deposit of 10%. The government will facilitate a bank loan of 70% and provide 30% equity. 

This opportunity is available to rural youth who own three bighas of land. They can establish a solar project with a capacity of 100 kilowatts. 

To avail of this opportunity, they must pay a security deposit of Rs. 4 lakh, which will be exchanged for the government's equity.

After the implementation of the project, the government will give Rs 20,000 every month to the youth for 25 years
