  • The project uses ultra-supercritical technology with an investment of approximately Rs 8,007 crore. This ensures maximum power generation efficiency while significantly reducing carbon dioxide emissions.
  • This project will supply 85% power to Telangana.
  • Its power generation efficiency will be around 42% among all NTPC power stations in India.
  • The commencement of this project will also help in the goal of 24x7 availability of affordable and high quality electricity across the country including Telangana.
  • The foundation stone of this project was also laid by the PM. Its first unit was dedicated to the nation by the Prime Minister on October 3, 2023.

660 MW unit of North Karnapura Super Thermal Power Project:

  • PM Modi will also dedicate to the nation Unit-2 (660 MW) of North Karnapura Super Thermal Power Project (3x660 MW) located in Jharkhand.
  • The project uses air cooled condenser technology with an investment of approximately Rs 4,609 crore.
  • It has been established as India's first supercritical thermal power project. This results in a water footprint of one-third that of a conventional water-cooled condenser (WCC).
  • NTPC started commercial operation of Unit-1 of North Karnapura Super Thermal Power Project on March 1, 2023.

Establishment of fly ash based light weight power plant:

  • PM Modi will dedicate the fly ash based light weight power plant set up with an investment of Rs 51 crore at Sipat Super Thermal Power Station. Sipat Super Thermal Power Station is located in Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh.
