Oman hosts Indo-Oman Eastern Bridge VII & Al Najah V Exercise

Continuing their effort to deepen bilateral defence ties, Indian and Omani military forces will conduct a series of bilateral exercises in September 2024. The Indian Army and the Indian Air Force contingent have arrived in Oman to participate in the AL NAJAH -V and Exercise Eastern Bridge -VII, respectively.

Exercise Eastern Bridge VII

The seventh edition of the bilateral military exercise Exercise Eastern Bridge between the Indian Air Force and the  Royal Oman Air Force commenced at the Air Force Base Masirah, Oman, on 11th September 2024. 

The seventh Exercise, Eastern Bridge VII, is scheduled for 11-22 September 2024.

The Indian Air Force has sent a contingent of MiG-29s, Jaguar fighter planes, and C-17 Globemaster III transport planes.

About the Exercise Eastern Bridge

The first edition of the bilateral  Exercise Eastern Bridge was held in 2009 in Oman. 

The sixth edition of the bilateral Exercise Eastern Bridge was held at the Indian Air Force's Jodhpur Base from 21 to 25 February 2022. 

The exercise aims to enhance interoperability and operational readiness between the two air forces and bolster their ability to collaborate effectively in diverse scenarios.

Exercise AL NAJAH 2024

The 5th edition of the bilateral military exercise Al NAJAH  between the Indian Army and the Royal Army of Oman will be held from September 13th to 26th at the Rabkoot Training Area in Salalah, Oman.

The 60-member Indian Army contingent consists of a Battalion of the Mechanised Infantry Regiment.

The military exercise will focus on executing counterterrorism operations as per the United Nations Charter. It will be undertaken in desert conditions, which is expected to increase the desert warfare capabilities of both armies.

About the Exercise AL NAJAH

Exercise AL NAJAH has been held between the two countries' forces since 2015 and is held alternately in India and Oman every two years.

The fourth AL NAJAH exercise was held in Rajasthan from 1–13 August 2022.

Exercise Naseem Al Bahr (Sea breeze)

The Indian Navy and the Royal Navy of Oman conduct a bilateral maritime exercise called Naseem Al Bahr, or Sea Breeze Exercise. 

The first Naseem Al Bahr exercise was held in 1993, and it is hosted alternately by the Indian Navy and the Royal Navy of Oman.

The 13th edition of the Naseem Al Bahr exercise was held off the coast of Oman from November 19 to 24, 2024.
