The Diu district of the Union Territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu has become the first district in the country to meet its power energy demand entirely from solar energy.

Pralhad Joshi visited Diu on 29 May 2025 to review the implementation of the PM-Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana and assess the district's progress in adopting solar energy.
Praising the Diu district's achievements, the Minister said that Diu is a model for the rest of the country in the adoption and use of renewable energy.
