India's Smriti Mandhana has set a new milestone in women's cricket. On 20 September 2026, she became the leading run-scorer in women's T20 International cricket, and just two days later, she also became the first woman cricketer to score 11,000 runs across all formats of international cricket.
Mandhana reached the 11,000-run mark on 22 September 2026, during India's Asian Games gold-medal final against Sri Lanka at Korogi Sports Park in Aichi-Nagoya. Going into the match, she needed just 13 runs to touch this milestone, and she achieved it during the innings, becoming the first woman to do so in international cricket.
Her overall tally at the 11,000-run mark is made up of 788 runs in Test cricket, 5,411 runs in One Day Internationals (ODIs) and 4,788 runs in Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is).
On 20 September 2026, during the Asian Games semi-final against Bangladesh, Mandhana went past New Zealand's Suzie Bates to become the highest run-scorer in women's T20 International history. Bates had earlier held the record with 4,758 runs in the format.
Mandhana has been consistently among the top performers in women's cricket in recent years. Earlier this month, on 3 September 2026, she scored her 18th international century, coming against Hong Kong in the Women's Asia Cup. With this innings, she moved ahead of the earlier joint record of 17 centuries in women's international cricket, held by other batters.
Her achievements across formats, in Tests, ODIs and T20Is, along with her recent record-breaking run at the Asian Games 2026, highlight her position as one of the most complete and prolific batters in the history of women's cricket.
