The Monsoon Session 2026 of Parliament, which began on July 20, was adjourned sine die on August 13, 2026, after 19 sittings spread across 25 days. During this session, 12 Bills were passed by both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha, while Lok Sabha's productivity stood at around 19% and Rajya Sabha's at approximately 39%.
Along with regular legislative business, the session also saw two Bills passed to replace ordinances issued earlier, the Supreme Court (Number of Judges) Amendment Ordinance and the Income-Tax (Amendment) Ordinance. The Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Amendment Bill, 2026 was referred to a Joint Committee for further examination.
Anti Paper Leak Bill 2026, strengthens the exam integrity system by mandating time-bound investigations and trials, enabling Special Fast Track Courts, and enhancing penalties for exam-related offences.
Vande Mataram Bill 2026 brings Vande Mataram under legal protection, making it an offence to disrupt its singing.
Registration of Births and Deaths (Amendment) Bill, 2026 tightens the process for delayed registration of births and deaths, requiring magisterial approval beyond a year.
