Parliament's Monsoon Session 2026 opened on 20 July in New Delhi and will run until 13 August, marking the eighth session of the Eighteenth Lok Sabha. Bills to Be Introduced in the Parliament Monsoon Session 2026

Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Amendment Bill, 2026

 Introduced in the Lok Sabha on 25 March 2026, currently pending. It creates a framework to supervise and dispose of foreign contributions and assets of organisations that lose FCRA certification, and cuts the maximum jail term for violations from five years to one year.

Viksit Bharat Shiksha Adhishthan Bill, 2025

 Introduced in the Lok Sabha on 15 December 2025, now with a Joint Parliamentary Committee. It proposes scrapping the UGC, AICTE, and the National Council for Teacher Education, replacing them with one single higher education regulator.

Income-tax (Amendment) Bill, 2026

 Meant to take the place of an ordinance issued earlier this year on the same subject, this bill would free foreign institutional investors and the Bank for International Settlements from paying income tax on gains made through investing in, selling, or transferring government securities.

Supreme Court (Number of Judges) Amendment Bill, 2026 

 Set to replace an ordinance issued earlier in the year, this bill would raise the strength of the Supreme Court from 33 judges to 37, not counting the Chief Justice of India.

Registration of Births and Deaths (Amendment) Bill, 2026 

 Proposes changes to the 1969 law on birth and death registration, tightening the rules around cases where registration is delayed.

Prevention of Insults to National Honour (Amendment) Bill, 2026 

 Seeks changes to the 1971 law that penalises insults to national symbols.

Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development (Amendment) Bill, 2026 

Designed to tighten how delayed payments to MSMEs are handled and to make arbitral awards easier to enforce. It would also give individual states greater say in deciding how their Micro and Small Enterprises Facilitation Councils are formed.
