PM Modi Honored with Seychelles' Highest Distinction Guardian of the Blue Horizon

On 28th June 2026, Prime Minister Narendra Modi received a special honor at a ceremony where Seychelles' President Dr. Patrick Herminie conferred upon him the Presidential Distinction titled "Guardian of the Blue Horizon," marking the very first time this award had ever been bestowed.

The honor comes in recognition of PM Modi's green leadership and his work championing the interests of developing nations, alongside his sustained push for the Blue Economy, climate action, responsible ocean resource management, and supporting the growth ambitions of small island developing states. Modi, in turn, dedicated the recognition to all nations standing firm on environmental conservation and the fight against climate change. He also pointed out the timing felt especially meaningful, arriving just as India and Seychelles marked 50 years of diplomatic relations, something he said would only deepen the bond between the two nations going forward.
