Centre Approves Rs 6,520 Cr for PM Kisan Sampada Yojana Till 2025-26

The central government has allocated an additional Rs 1,920 crore to the central sector scheme "Pradhan Mantri Kisan Sampada Yojana” (PMKSY) to cover the 15th Finance Commission period from fiscal year 2021-22 to 2025-26. The total allocation for the PMKSY now stands at Rs 6520 crore. 

The additional allocation for the PMKSY was approved at the Union Cabinet meeting held in New Delhi on July 31, 2025, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The Central Sector Scheme PMKSY is a comprehensive package of component schemes that aims to create modern infrastructure for the food processing sector in the country with efficient supply chain management from the farmers' field to the retail outlet.

Breakdown of the Additional Allocation 

Rs 1000 crore has been allocated for :

• Setting up 50 Multi-Product Food Irradiation Units under the “ Integrated Cold Chain and Value Addition Infrastructure” sub-components of the PMKSY scheme. It is expected to create a total preservation capacity  from 20 to 30 Lakh Metric Tonnes per annum,
• 100 NABL-accredited food testing labs under the “Food Safety and Quality Assurance Infrastructure”sub-components of the  PMKSY scheme.

Rs 920 crore has been allocated for sanctioning various projects of the  PMKSY.

About the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Sampada Yojana" (PMKSY)

The government of India launched the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Sampada Yojana (PMKSY) in 2017-18  as a central sector scheme.

The government has extended the scheme till 31st March 2026, co-terminus with the 15th Finance Commission cycle.

Implementation and Sub-Component of the Scheme 

The Union Ministry of Food Processing Industries is implementing the scheme.

Sub Component of the Scheme

The PMKSY aims to boost the food processing sector in the country by creating modern infrastructure with efficient supply chain management from the farm to the retail outlet.

Presently, the PMKSY has six subcomponents.

1. Integrated Cold Chain and Value Addition Infrastructure
2. Creation or Expansion of Food Processing and Preservation Capacities (Unit Scheme)
3. Infrastructure for Agro-processing Clusters
4. Food Safety and Quality Assurance Infrastructure
5. Human Resources and Institutions –Research & Development
6. Operation Greens (launched in 2018-19 for the  integrated development of Tomato, Onion and Potato crops value chain. Presently, it includes 22 perishable products.)
