India delivered a strong performance on the penultimate day of the World Archery Para Series (Stage III), winning two gold, two silver and one bronze medals in Ahmedabad on 8 September 2026. The men's compound and recurve teams claimed top honours, while para-archer Swati Chaudhary stood out by bagging two medals in a single day.

India's men's squads delivered standout performances across both archery disciplines. In the compound category, reigning world champion Toman Kumar paired with Shyam Sundar Swami to defeat Iraq comfortably, securing the gold medal for India. Meanwhile, in the recurve category, Harvinder Singh and Vijay Sundi showed resilience against Slovakia. After trailing early, the Indian duo fought back strongly to seal a hard-fought win and claim the top spot on the podium.

Indian Women's Recurve Team Earned a Silver Medal

India's women's recurve pair of Bhawna and Pooja had a tough outing in the final, going down 0-6 to China with set scores of 23-34, 33-35, and 30-31. The Indians struggled for consistency right from the start, opening with scores of just 4, 5, and 6 while China built an early lead. Things improved slightly in the second set, where the pair managed three 8s and a 9, but it wasn't enough to bridge the gap. The third set proved just as difficult, with India scoring only a 5 and a 7 and failing to hit a single 10 across the entire match. Though China wasn't at their sharpest either, India's inconsistent arrow placement allowed the Chinese pair to hold their lead comfortably and take gold.

Swati Chaudhary Wins Individual Bronze Mixed Team W1 Category

Separately, Swati Chaudhary had a memorable day individually, finishing runner-up in the Mixed Team W1 category before winning an individual bronze in the afternoon. India's women's compound pair, Sheetal Devi and Payal Nag, also came close to a podium finish but lost the bronze-medal playoff to China's Wang Huiting and Gao Fangxia, missing out on a medal in that event.
