Neeraj Chopra Wins Javelin Gold at Ostrava Golden Spike 2025 in Czechia

2020 Tokyo Olympic gold medalist Neeraj Chopra of India won the javelin event at the 64th Ostrava Golden Spike 2025, which was held on June 24, 2025, at the Mestský Stadion in Czechia.
This was Neeraj Chopra's second title win within a week of winning the Paris Diamond League on June 20, 2025.
The Golden Spike is one of the most prestigious events in world athletics and is a World Athletics Continental Tour Gold label meet.
The Ostrava Golden Spike athletics javelin throw record is held by Neeraj Chopra’s current coach and world record holder, Jan Železný of Czechia, with a throw of 94.64m in 1996.
With a throw of 84.12 meters, Neeraj Chopra won the gold medal.
Douw Smit of South Africa finished second with a best throw of 84.12 meters.
Two-time world champion and Paris 2024 Olympic bronze medallist Anderson Peters of Grenada came third, with a best throw of 83.63m.
Czechia’s Jan Zelezny holds the world record in javelin, with a throw of 98.44 meters in 1996.
The Indian table tennis duo of Manav Thakkar and Manush Shah had to settle for silver in the men’s doubles event of the WTT Contender Skopje 2025. The WTT Contender Skopje 2025 was held in Skopje, North Macedonia, from 9 to 15 June 2025.
In the final, the South Korean pair of Lim Jonghoon and Oh Junsung defeated Manav & Manush 9-11, 7-11, 9-11 in straight sets.
Priyanaka Gowswami of India won the 10-kilometre Austrian Race Walking Championship in Innsbruck. She won the gold medal with a time of 47 minutes and 54 seconds on 9th June 2025.
Sandeep Kumar of India finished second in the men’s 35 km race walk event, with a time of 2 hours 38 minutes and 45 seconds.
Another Indian, Ram Baboo, was third with a time of 2 hours 41 minutes and 47 seconds.
