• This data shows the big gap in mobility within South Asia and between India and the world’s major economies.

Criteria of the Henley Passport Index

• The Henley Passport Index created by Henley & Partners is considered the global standard for measuring passport power. It ranks passports based on how many destinations their holders can access visa-free or with visa-on-arrival.
• This index uses special and reliable data from the International Air Transport Association (IATA), which makes it one of the most reliable tools to measure international mobility.
• The 2026 edition evaluates 277 countries and territories, including sovereign countries, territories and special administrative zones. This large coverage allows an accurate and comparable estimate of how easily citizens can travel around the world.

World’s most powerful passports in 2026

• Afghanistan has the weakest passport in the world, which allows access to only 24 destinations without a prior visa.
