India and Romania Signed Three Important Agreements

President Droupadi Murmu arrived in Bucharest, Romania, on July 23, 2026, marking the final leg of her three-nation state visit covering Moldova, North Macedonia, and Romania. She was received at the airport by Romanian Foreign Minister Oana-Silvia Țoiu. This is India's first presidential state visit to Romania in nearly three decades. Union Minister of State Nimuben Jayantibhai Bambhaniya and MPs Dr. Dinesh Sharma and Shri Vijay Baghel accompanied her.

Highlights of India-Romania Bilateral Meeting at Cotroceni Palace

President Murmu was received with a ceremonial welcome at Cotroceni Palace by Romanian President Nicusor Dan. The two leaders held one-to-one and delegation-level talks covering trade, investment, and supply chains, with a target to double bilateral trade in three years. They highlighted the upcoming India-EU Free Trade Agreement, expanded science and technology cooperation, and planned to mark the 80th anniversary of diplomatic ties in 2028 as the "India-Romania Year of Innovation." On July 24, the President is scheduled to address the India-Romania Business Forum and visit Romania's Parliament and the Bucharest University of Economic Studies.
